On February, 2014 Sophos acquired Cyberoam and its all set to do migration from Cyberoam to its own firewall Sophos XG Firewall.
Here are basic FAQs:
What is Sophos XG Firewall?
The Sophos XG Firewall is the new firmware that combines the best of Sophos and Cyberoam Next-Generation Firewall technology, bringing in key innovations such as RED, stronger email protection with SPX encryption and built-in DLP, Security Heartbeat, Advanced Threat Protection, and a smart, task-oriented GUI.
Will I be able to deploy Sophos XG Firewall on my existing Cyberoam device?
Only CR devices running on 10.6.2 MR2 or 10.6.3 MR1 will be able to deploy Sophos XG Firewall. Cyberoam devices running on 10.6.2 MR1 and below will need to upgrade to the previously mentioned firmware versions before being able to upgrade to Sophos XG Firewall.
Is there a license fee associated with migrating my Cyberoam OS device to Sophos XG Firewall?
No, there is not.
How can I upgrade my existing Cyberoam HW device/Virtual device to Sophos XG Firewall?
An alert – “Sophos XG Firewall is available now” – will appear on the product UI with the link to Sophos XG Firewall. Alternatively, you can find the same link under Upgrade Firmware options in the Cyberoam Customer Portal. Please refer to our Cyberoam to Sophos XG Firewall Migration Guide for step-by-step details.
What will happen to my existing Cyberoam configurations and reports when I upgrade to Sophos XG Firewall?
Your existing configurations and reports, except for WAF, will be preserved and carried over.
Will I be able to roll back from Sophos XG Firewall to my last CyberoamOS version? How?
You will only be able to roll back from Sophos XG Firewall to your last CyberoamOS version before you migrate your licenses. All you have to do is reboot the appliance and select CyberoamOS to boot it. All previous configurations, reports and subscriptions (except WAF) will be restored once the device is rebooted. However, any new configurations (including features exclusive to Sophos XG Firewall) will be lost once you roll back. The downtime of this roll-back is similar to the time required for rebooting your system.
